Ok, I stopped reading this thread, but just wanted to thank Sue for talking to us! So often these threads stop with no word on what happened to the company/person/product/cam/rope/lost shit bag.

Hand Sand is sold and marketed as a pre-season prep for hands needing to be toughened up. Not everyone respond the same way to a mountain manicure.... Too bad though:)

If you want to mix sand salt and silica together just know that too much salt can cause your skin to split, not enough silica may not absorb enough humidity to concentrate the oils in your skin and too much silica way cause your thin skin to peel. The wrong sand may actually polish your skin rather than stimulate it. The key is moisture balance and understanding how the natural chemicals work together.

It might not be for you and that is ok. If you are interested in it that OK too :) With or with out Rush products, It all about having fun and pushing our limits being outdoors or at the gym.

Maybe maybe we should all go climbing instead of being on our computers. :)

You really don't need to deal with this Mountain Project Bullshit. You've already shown that you stand behind your products and that in itself shows something. I wish you the best in your business venture and I may very well be interested in trying out some of your oils on my next extended climbing trip.

Obviously Hand Sand has 'molecules' and 'active micro particals.

A bunch of metro dudes here....Sue im supporting u in your endeavors but this product sounds a little flimsy to me. I use almond oil, lanolin im a nurse and very much familiar with different skin types and conditions. My advice : keep searching for that signature product of yours and best of luck!

Thanks for the support. Actually Hand Sand is not our main seller, it`s obviously not for every one...:) Rush`s Signature product is Hand Jam oil, callus conditioner. It was my first product, like you BigJuggsjohnson it was just a little something I made for myself. Chalk was destroying my skin so I needed relief. I would whip this stuff up while climbing in the red and other climbers started asking me if they could use it. Since then I`ve tweaked the formula a little bit and I`ve never really pushed the company except by sponsoring some climbers and placed a few adds in Gripped magazine up here in Canada. Mountain Equipment Co-Op is my biggest buyer. They sell my products across Canada.

Someone mentioned earlier that they envisioned a toothless hick hunched over a pot in the back woods of Kentucky. I think the post was removed. Maybe I should use that image for an add campaign. Pretty cool story! Yea the pic if a toothless lady ( cartoon ) would be Rad for advertising! Very unique! My hands were torn up by chalk and washing them and using the alcohol foam so I can see where u r coming from. I hope your products catch on here in the US on a bigger scale. Boulder would be the perfect place for it :)

I think guideline #1 has been broken for many a user on this thread. It kind of disturbs me to see such comments from so many that have obviously never even tried the products!

I applaud you Sue for your humility and perseverence with these guys!

I personally think that climbers pay way too little attention to their skin, especially boulderers. We go out, thrash around, wear through our tips, try some salve and pretty much pray that skin will grow back. I for one am extremely excited that someone in the community with actual skin care experience is trying to find solutions for us. Most climbers I know will give anything a try if it even makes marginal gains in skin growth, elasticity or longivity!
