Moab Area Advice

Hey all,
I'm a 23 year old guy from Iowa and have been out to Moab on vacations and climbing trips multiple times before. Now I'm headed out there for 2 months from mid October through mid December on a med school rotation and am looking for some advice on what I should do with my time!

Here's what I have planned so far: I'm camping in one of the local campgrounds (Yes I know it's going to get cold), I have a small rack of trad gear and plenty of draws but no partner so I'm planning to boulder most of the time, Big Bend will be my nightly go to spot with weekend trips to Triassic and Joe's Valley, I have a crash pad and will invest in a few more once I get out there, and I climb at roughly a V5/5.11d level (of course thats in a local midwest gym...)

Here's what I wanna know: Is it easy to find people to hang and climb with out there? Are there any places, especially bouldering, that I'm missing? What is the best coffee shop in Moab with WiFi? And where is there a bar in Moab that I can watch football games?

If you are just going to be flying solo for the most part, Mill Creek has some nice options for solo TRs, since most of its areas are approached from the top. There are a couple coffee shops in town that have wireless, same with bars and football.

If the weather gets really shitty, there's a hostel on the south end of town that you could crash at, too.

Have fun, I'm way jealous of you being able to combine work and play this way!

Hey Josh, being a former mid westerner, I sympathize with your westward journey.

Moab climbers can be a fickle bunch. Big Bend is probably the best spot to meet local climbers, as well as the Love Muffin, the 'in' coffee shop. Although you'll find it packed most of the time which leads locals to avoid during the busy season. There's also Wake and Bake cafe and the Red Rock Bakery.

I sometimes feel pressed to find bouldering partners out here (this is splitter country, son) but hang out at Big Bend and Wall St. in the afternoons and you'll get along alright.

Whenever I've gone to Moab alone and rope soloed on Wall Street people usually approached me wanting to climb. If they seemed sketch I just kept soloing, but often I've wound up climbing with interesting and competent folks there. I've caught a few games in the evening at the Moab Brewery, and the afore mentioned hostel is near there and has showers. Dude, just go down to the Creek! Ample partners to be found. The only trips I've made have been solo and in February (probably fewer people than in the fall) and I've had no problem finding people. Everyone down there (except for maybe the weekenders) is super psyched to be down there.
