Can you lend a hand? The Flatirons Climbing Council and the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) are asking for a crew of volunteers to help complete the third and final day of trail work and revegetation at the very popular Upper Y and King Conquer bouldering areas on Flagstaff Mtn this Saturday, Oct 13 from 9am to 4pm.
We had a team of volunteers scheduled for last Saturday but the event was postponed one week due to weather. We’re now in great need of refilling the volunteer roster and looking for 25 generous souls to roll-up their sleeves and help put a new face on one of our preferred bouldering haunts. The area has seen significant traffic since the likes of Pat Ament, John Gill and Royal Robbins first dusted the holds in the 60’s.
The work days are in cooperation with Boulder OSMP with a grant from the Colorado Mountain Club and the blessings of the Access Fund. We also have a bunch of great community sponsors like the Boulder Rock Club, REI, The Spot, La Sportiva, ABC Kids, Avery Brewing and Movement Climbing + Fitness. Lunch & t-shirts for all attendees, plus a raffle with gym passes and a pair of Sportiva shoes, and Avery brews after work for 21+.
For general information, please see www.flagstafftrailwork.org. To register now, please visit this page. Please help spread the word and bring a friend.
The FCC, OSMP and everyone who has ever bouldered or will boulder on Flagstaff is grateful.
