Does anyone know what the conditions on the slab are? It was raining earlier in the week and I'm not sure if it'l be dry enough to get on tomorrow. Thanks.

Bill,

I climbed last tuesday after a weekend of rain, the slabs were surprisingly dry for the most part. I climbed regular route, it was mostly dry up until the second to last pitch. See TR below. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply! How was the bottom? I climbed there before when it was dry and remember the 2nd to last pitch being the most sketchy (relatively) before the vertical 5.8 chimney section. Debating on going for a hike on Marcy or heading to Chapel Pond...

the first 4 pitches or so were excellent, I was surprised that they were dry. You are right though the pitch before the chimney and the chimney itself didn't look so great, we decided we had a great day and just abseiled from below the start of the chimney. Definitely great views of the foliage though!

If the road is dry, the slabs are fine.

FYI the slabs were mostly dry. Very climbable.

Glad you had a good time up there. When in doubt, go climbing.
