Something that fits like a TC Pro

Hey people,

Here is my problem, I have really wide and high volume feet. I have tried numerous shoes and the best fitting have been TC pro's. Everything else I have tried either squishes the underside of my foot together or i end up with very little lace or Velcro left to secure the shoe.

I love the TC Pro's but keen to get something a bit more aggressive as well.

Any ideas? I don't have a local climbing shop and the time
I visited one, the only shoe that fitted was the TC's.

Try the katanas I believe they are the same last but are more aggressive. I have a very wide fore foot but narrow heels. I wear womens katanas they fit like they were made for my foot.

Katanas are a great shoe, I love my Scarpa Instincts (Lace) for the same reasons you posted. Best shoes I have owned to date in terms of durability, performance and comfort!

3rd the the Katana vote. They're my go-to velcro shoe. (I also LOVE the TC Pros)

Funny how everybody suggests La Sportivas or Scarpas. I always thought pretty much any brand that is available in the US had wider models than La Sportiva or Scarpa. I have the opposite problem with narrow feet and tried to get away from La Sportiva after their last price raise. But I couldn't find other brands that would fit.

I think neither the Katana or the Instict will give you the fit that the TC Pro gave you considering it is a flat lasted high top and both the Katana and Instict are way more sensitive and a bit more aggressive in design. I just liked the fit and found that the Instict seems to do it all well.

I think sportiva screwed the pooch with the XS Edge and now they are putting it on both the Miuras and the Katanas. The rubber sucks in my opinion unless you climb sandstone or edgey Yosemite granite.

Here in New Hampshire with the quartzite and polished granite, one would be better off wearing street shoes. The XS Grip is fantastic and so are the various 5.10 rubbers that are available.

That being said, have you tried the five ten Grandstones? they have a similar design and have the ankle support that the TC's offered with the advantages of the sticky rubber and wider forefoot. CHeck out the Evolv Astroman as well, hearing great things about those as well.

Maybe try to find a pair of barracudas, they have xs grip. Grandstones will probably be the best solution though. Astromans are pretty stiff and I like my grandstones way better
P.S. I agree xs edge sucks. Just had my TC pros resoled with 5 mm grip. So nice

I am going to do the same! Comfortable shoe and great in the cracks!

Just ordered the Grandstones. Taking em to the Red next week. Similar to the TC Pros and a lot cheaper. I'll let ya know what I think. My parnter has tried both and absolutely loves the grandstones.

If you wear a size 43 or smaller, try the women's version of either. They both come with XSGrip2.

For the record, I find the XSEdge to climb well on all sorts of terrain, from steep overhangs to delicate slabs. I really can't tell the difference between the two rubbers (or 5.10 for that matter,) though you should get whatever works for you.

Thanks for all the comments. When I was talking about finding a shoe that fitted like the TC Pro I was referring to its ability to accommodate my wide/high volume foot. I was looking for a more aggressive shoe not a TC replacement.

If I wear a 40 1/2 TC Pro, what would you suggest I get in the Katana?

I also have ridiculously wide feet, and like the TC Pros. Lace up Miuras fit similarly and are a great shoe. I only wish they lasted longer.

I also like Scarpas, as they fit on the wider side. I have a pair of Scarpa Vapor V, and they are pretty good.

The Katana doesn't stretch nearly as much as the TC Pro. The flip side is, it runs a bit larger (or used to anyway, I haven't bought a new pair in a while).

I wear a 44.5 TC Pro for completely flat toes all-day comfort shoe. I wear a 44 TC Pro as my "performance" high top for better edging. It's still comfortable to jam etc.

I wear a 44 in a Miura and that's a somewhat tight fit performance setup.

I wear a 43 in a Katana and it has a similar tight performance fit to my Miuras (Katana is wider in the toe box with more "toe knuckle" room.

Fit the Katana how you want them to feel. They won't stretch much at all length wise. They do conform to the toes develop toe knuckle pockets.

Well I ordered a pair of size 42 Scarpa Vapor V's and they are no way wide enough. The shoe squishes my foot together so badly it hurts within minutes. I can't go a bigger shoe because even with the 42's my toes are not as curled up as I would like hem.

I think I have worked out that TC pro's are the only shoe that fit me.

My wife has the same issue - wide feet, likes the TC Pros. Other than the TCs Scarpas and Sportivas don't fit. Her downturned shoe is the Five Ten Blackwing.

Really? Thats weird. I have fairly wide feet, and have yet to find a pair of 5.10s I can cram my feet into. I've tried on the Arrowhead, Project, and Teams, and couldn't even get the velcro to close. My Scarpa Vapor V's, on the other hand, fit quite nicely (after the appropriately excruciating break in period, of course).

At Neptune they mentioned that the Arrowhead fits much narrower than the Blackwing, and steered her away from it. Not sure about the others.
