How difficult would it be to mine the database for pitches of a given grade and star rating? [added feature to the advanced search function] 'Bonus pitches'?: On days where you're going for mileage, after topping out on a multi-pitch route it would be nice to have a list of the final two pitches of the nearby routes that end on the walk-off. Routes that you might not have been interested in (obscure/wickedly dangerous) might still have attractive final pitches that you can either rap in and lead back out or lower & top-rope. I suspect that the database doesn't have the resolution for that kind of query, but if there were a unique search term ('lagniappe pitch'?) then users could add suggested pitches to the comments of nearby routes of similar grades... Good idea/dumb idea? Feel free to fling poo.

bump for the yo-yo mileage feature. (No poo flinging or cryptic pseudo-threats? -What is wrong with you people?)

...or you could just pull up the area you're going to climb at on the database and figure it out yourself.

Gregger, I can't help w/the search feature part but I got a good Bonus pitch for you. After topping out on Childhoods End, walk a couple hundred feet across the top of the rock & toprope the last pitch of Shock Treatment.

Hey Greg, It was good seeing you *again* on some permutation of Anthill. In theory you could mine for terms like "linkup" but then you would have to develop an algorithm to parse out the linkup to what part. My guess it that it would be a lot of work for the NLP (natural language parsing) part with not much output. Then again could be an interesting machine learning project for an undergrad CS student intern. Another potential approach going forward (if there's sufficient interest/dev resources) would be something like this: linkup UI 1 linkup UI 2 Michelle

Michelle, (fun day - despite our Semi-Wild detour) Filtering tons of data can lead you to places you wouldn't find otherwise. Yes, Nick, I could RTFM (or RTFGB in this case). I sometimes comb the database filling out the todo list and a filter like this would be nice. Glenn, I might have to go field test some of those new bolts. Looks like a nice line.

Thanks, Greg. I wanted to tinker with some machine learning tools this winter so I may hit you up later for a data set.
