There are many climbers who won't use chalk--ever hear of the "clean hand gang"?

That's what I've always assumed. I never use chalk - unless the temperature is above 110 degrees.

No wonder why you got rid of your medium shirts on MP. Won't fit over your 3X big bro crack climbing suit. ; )

Your hands never sweat, so that's aid too. : )

I first went to IC a week after getting out of a cast for a broken wrist, I taped the shit out of my hands and up almost halfway to my elbow to stabilize the joint. I don't think these could do that... But that's not the point. Dude's on here are right, anything on you hands is "cheating". My elbow level tape, hand Jammie's, hell, even cams, ropes and climbing shoes take away some of the "purity". Someone climbing in Indian Creek in hand Jammie's gets way more respect from me than the dude bro playing his Xbox all day because he/she are just getting after it to a level of purity they're comfortable with. Whatever. I mean, who here barefoot, onsight free solos even a .000001% of what they climb? Very few of you I guess, so why split hairs on anything beyond that. Splitter Crack climbing is the most enjoyable type of climbing on earth to me, but, it hurts, so why not give folks the option to have a manufactured solution to that?

I will caveat that and say that if you're clipping draws on a bolted crack, the universe stipulates that you must have your picture taken climbing that in hand Jammie's

Jay Willis wrote:Rubber gloves certainly don't look as cool as tapeing up, but that's not the point. It's not that tape doesn't work or that these make jamming easier. The reason people buy these gloves is so that they don't have to go through endless rolls of tape. Also useful if just doing a single pitch of jamming.
I've used my pair of gloves for a long time and know a lot of climbers who have used theirs for years (and yes... they do climb a LOT)

Maybe you missed my original post up thread, but my local gym has these gloves for sale. If you send me a PM, I can try to help you out.

I'll let you know when I get to 1,000,000 pitches if I've managed 1 barefoot onsight.

Russ your full of shit!
I have nothing but scar tissue left on the backs of my hands from listening to this line of bull. Don't tape up if you want hard man status. Tape if you want to enjoy yourself and improve your technique. Take it from me, poor technique leading to hamburger hands, provides a slower learning curve. If you accept that you are a total wuss, accept aid, accept tape. For sure you'll learn how to crack climb well, faster.

Tape is aid...

If tape is aid, so is Olde English!

I have a pair of the ocun gloves I bought in Czech R. last summer. They are very popular over there and work great. I've used them once since I've been back in the U.S., Twilight Zone at W. Elden and I was glad to have them! Many climbers in CZ. expressed amazement that we waste money on tape to make disposable gloves. And by the way, they are climbing much more serious routes then 98% of the climbers in N. America. My feeling about the "tape/crack gloves are aid argument" is this: climb everything barefoot and you can make this argument, otherwise you are full of it. Oh yeah, make sure you don't use chalk or cams either.

Anyone seen a large in the Ocun crack gloves from a retailer in the US or online?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
