BOULDER THEFTS: Mapleton & Folsom area
|
Last night I feel victim to what BPD told me was a string of car burglaries. I wouldn't be surprised if more people post up about their stolen gear. |
|
If you don't already have them, here are links to the Boulder, Denver, and Fort Collins area Dregslist sporting goods sections: |

I stopped leaving stuff in my car in Boulder after I got hit a few years back. Not many crimes in the Bubble, but car theft is one of them. |
|
RECOVERED!!!! Turns out the perps ditched my bag across the street in some bushes. Neighbors found it and turned it into the police. |
|
wow- lucky break. glad you got it back. |

The homeless in Boulder go for clothes and money...stuff they can use. Others look for stuff to pawn. Luckily the majority of people breaking into cars (outside of climbing areas) don't even know what climbing gear is, let alone its worth or how to pawn it. Glad to hear you caught such a huge break! |

Glad to hear you caught such a huge break! When I got ripped off they took my cash, my AAA card, and my sunglasses. The cops mentioned that Phish was on tour and that's why the AAA card was gone with the cash - it's good for motel discounts so the stinky F'ers can shower, and is not traceable like the credit cards (left behind) would have been. |

haha I forgot about the "tour" thefts. |

When will people learn to stop leaving gear in their car? Honestly it sucks your gear gets stolen but I have no sympathy for people that get stuff stolen out of their car, what did they expect to happen!? |
|
Plenty of rich kids go car shopping in Boulder too, so don't leave your pot in the car... that's what they really want. |

What do they expect? They expect to get a good nights sleep and go climbing in the AM. They expect to go climbing after work without running home to get their stuff after work... or go to work after climbing without going home to drop it off. Let's not be in the business of victim blaming. It's not like they left it sitting on the corner bus stop bench - they had their cars broken into by a felon. What's the next step? Saying not to leave it in your house either? |

Be glad it's not the east coast. In the cities you don't even lock your doors anymore. After getting your windows busted out by crackheads stealing pennies on the floor, you just empty your car completely and leave the doors open. |

Not worth replacing windows every month. My room mate in Philly used to do that. Then they started popping his hood and stealing his battery. He had to take his battery in every night. My worst year in Philly I had 5 windows smashed. 3 times there was nothing in the car, they were just looking. |
