This climber is in the cranking rattly fingers section of the Bat Crack. The rock is very steep here, and the pump factor comes to play on the very first pitch. The rope hangs free all the way to the ground from this stance. Belaying from here gives you a face-to-face with your partner as they contend with the .11a mantle that completes the pitch, which is sorta cool!
