When are u going? Was there last year in December and walked into the national park lodge right in the park and got a room, no problem. From what I've heard, they are really hard rooms to get during peak tourist seasons. The park was basically empty in December, which was awesome. Only drawback to December is you end up chasing daylight with the shortened days. If you have time, get dry suits from zion adventure company and do the narrows without the summer crowds. Very fun.

Stay at the Desert Peral in one of their rooms that has a view of the Watchman and the Virgin river.

I live in Springdale and they also have the best grass in town!!! It amazing place everyone raves about it if they are staying there.

I know the grass might not be a selling point for you but seriously, it amazing.

The lodge was nice; I think they have cabin type rooms too. Very convenient. The rooms aren't that big, but it's cool being right there in the park.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
