South Face Rock Climbing

When you hike up the trail to the Rocks of Sharon, the south face of Big Rock is the first area you arrive at. There is a nice flat area here, and a log at the base you can sit on.

There are currently 4 moderate bolted routes on this face, all climb up to the large ledge about 2/3 of the way to the top of the rock where there are two 2-bolt anchors with chains. To the left of the sport routes is a grungy lichen-covered chimney/crack system that looks like it would be fun if it were cleaned out. The climbs here are a bit more than 25m long.

Just around the corner to the right, on the toe of the buttress is an easy sport climb (Southern Comfort, 5.5) that goes to a third set of chains on the same ledge.
