Hi all, wondering if you have suggestions of places I can hike up to set anchors and top rope near Chattanooga. 5.8's to 10's perfect stuff. Lookout Mountain? Thank you for any advice/info you may have!

Sunset is your best bet, expect a decent crowd on the weekend and make sure you account for parking. You can park at point park and walk down the road to the trail head or park at Craven's house and hike up to the base of Sunset. If you're extremely lucky or get out decently early you may be able to snag parking at the trailhead, which only has 7 or so parking spots.

Good luck and have fun!

I disagree. Many of the climbs at Sunset top out into someone's backyard. I know that this has caused issues in the past and would discourage you from roaming around above the cliff line hunting TRs. I'm not saying it can't be done, but if there is easy top roping at Sunset I sure don't know about it. Maybe Lost Wall in GA would be a better option for you, although it's a bit of a drive from Chattanooga.

Sandrock is your best bet for setting up toprope. I haven't been there in over a year but remember it being quite busy on weekends.

Jacksonville FL. Ended up going to both! Sandrock was awesome! met people there who belayed me so I could lead and set up top rope for my son. Sunset was also great. Happy to report that there were no issues w/ folks backyards, as we hiked in and down into wooded area where we setup anchors. Route choices were more difficult, but perfect for amount of time we had. looking forward to going back! Thank you guys for your help!
