Want to climb Borah???

I'm in Ketchum Idaho, looking for someone to go up Borah peak with in the next couple of weeks. I would have no problem doing it alone, but it is usually more fun when you are with somebody. I am an experienced hiker/climber with knowledge of the local area, and a current WEMT cert. Would prefer a partner who is experienced as well.

Went up this morning. Awesome alpine start with a clear summit. Thunderheads built quickly on the way down. Climb wasn't nearly as bad as I had heard. The infamous "snowbridge" was gone. Awesome climb, my first state high point. Stoked!

Nice man! I went up a route on the NF a couple weeks ago and came down COR route. That is one long dusty trail!

Is there any alpine ice left up there?

No Alpine Ice that I could see on Borah, I didn't get a view of the North side. But still some steep, aesthetic and exposed looking snow filled couloirs on Mount Idaho just to the south, for sure worth checking out

I'm in ketchum for the next week would love to have someone to go one a good hike/climb/adventure with. Sadly only brought my chalk and shoes up here so couldn't do much vertical stuff save for bouldering. Just visiting my family none of which very outdoorsy. Have a lot of back country experience and at the moment am living from my backpack so think I can handle myself well in most all situations.

Poor timing Andrew. I'm getting ready to do some fall traveling, leaving early tuesday, won't be back until November. I hope you find time to get out and do some hiking and climbing. I would advise checking out The Hyndman basin off of East Fork road, and maybe Ryan peak, up North fork and off the West pass trail, great views, and awesome scrambles. Good luck with finding a partner and safe travels.

There should still be plenty of ice on the north side. We went 3 weeks ago, and most of the snow still hadn't turned to ice except for the top 2 pitches or so leading to NF direct. Go get it!

I'm wondering if someone can identify the spire on the right (north) side of the east face. Is it named? From the pics of East Face routes, looks like it would be a fun climb.

Nope, no name yet. Borah Buttress is what my friends and I call it. If you go to summitpost you will see 3 routes on the East Face of Borah. Idahosummits is also a good site for info. Not too many folks on that side of the pebble. Borah has a bright future for someone with a 4x4 and bolt kit.
