Any Beta for Barn Rock on Lake Champlain???
|
I am not familiar with Lake Champlain but I was curious if you could access the cliffs without a boat? If so where do you park and hike in from? It has been really hot and I would be psyched to bring the crew north to do some Adk deep water soloing. Any insight would be appreciated...Thanks! |

Jut - Split rock forest has trails that go to barn rock and there are campsites on the bay by the cliffs. We were thinking of heading out there some time soon with my mothers sailboat and spend a few days. |

Jason, thanks for the maps! We were thinking about heading up there next weekend at some point to take a break from the heat and get our deep water solo on. Hope everything is going well! |

Have a great time it's beautiful! |

Did you end up going Justin? I was expecting to see a video or some pics on your blog shortly after you made this post. |

We headed up there last friday...Barn rock was very cool but the stuff about 1/4-1/2 mile north was incredible...it was too deep to anchor though...100ft rope and did not even touch bottom. |
|
That does look a little slabby. Can you get to the north place without a boat? |
|
Not easily...boat is the way to go...I suppose you could hike up from the Barn rock trail and then swim a couple hundred yards. |

Keep a camera with at all times so if you see "Champ" the Lake monster, you can snap a picture. He is like the American Loch Ness monster. You could be famous. |

The cliffs to the north are called the Palisades and host some nice ice climbs in winter. That'd also be the best season to spot the Lake Champlain Monster ;) |

In between the route Drop, Swim or Die and the route For the Birds is the best stuff for DWS. The arete to the right of drop swim or die is incredible looking and the rock quality on all of this stuff is fantastic. |
