Valhalla Traverse, The Bunghole who's done it?

Despite knowing better we attempted the Enclosure Couloir this weekend.
The Valhalla was snow free, completely. Even the ice in the "bowl" was completely melted out. What was left was a hanging mess of steep dirt, mud, gravel and shattered rock which we decided not to cross. Spending the day chatting with folks about what we saw we came to find out that the section is now sometimes referred to as "the Bunghole" or the place that God stop to take a shit when he was creating the Tetons.

My question is who has crossed it in this condition and how?

I know the sludge you are referring to. I did the Black Ice last September and even though the ice bowls were in we still had to deal with that in between and at the end of the bowls. We solo'd it but I remember thinking that it was really sketch! We could have protected the ice and ran a belay but without ice I don't know how you could protect it? Maybe if you can get up to the rock walls above you could get something in??? Well, i am sure there are MP.com folks out there with a lot more Valhalla experience than me. Good luck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
