Has anyone ever dealt with climbing related SC (sternoclavicular) joint problems? I would love any injury management beta for an injury that seems only to respond favourably to continuous anti-inflammatory meds.
I popped my L SC loose years ago. Unfortunately the main thing holding the SC joint in place are ligaments. I don't know exactly what kind of "injury" you've got. Like I said, I tried to dislocate the joint so mine was pretty much a bad sprain to the ligament. If that's the case the main thing to do is not over stress the soft tissue w/ your activity. It's going to take probably close to 6-8weeks to heal up to the point that the fascial tissue/ligament has regained most of it's structural integrity.
If you've been banging it around for awhile now and it's really bugging you. It would be worth to see a medical professional and make sure that you're not messing up the joint space itself and that the joint isn't completely unstable to the point that it's not going to heal w/ out intervention. Good luck getting back up and running.
Yes, I think it is just a sprain, happened about 7 weeks ago from landing on my shoulder. I had an X-ray to confirm that it was not broken or dislocated ( from the swelling it felt and looked bad). I'm used to managing injuries, but the swelling in this case appears to be a problem that is keeping it from healing. I've been on aleve for over 2 weeks now. II guess I'll just take it easy for afew weeks before going back to see a doctor, unless someone has some good rehab tips.Thanks.
