I know the best option is for here to go try on and hang in harnesses in the stores, but it's a lot easier for us to shop online, My wife wants to to start doing some climbing, any recommendations for harnesses? She's about 5' 5" 120 pounds with a runner's physique, very lean.

BD Primrose has been a really nice womens harness for the last few years. Some can be found for under 40 bucks online if you search around websites.

I just went through the fitting process with a woman purchasing her first harness. 5'6" about 135lbs. It was between the Petzl Luna and the BD Primrose. She chose the BD and really likes it.

Yeah, the Primrose/Momentum are really awesome harnesses, as well as some of the cheapest out there. Can't go wrong.

Not the cheapest but I won't buy anything else ever again: Misty Mountain. Check out the Finesse. I am a little taller and a little lighter than she is, so she should fit in a size small.

Just saw a Mammut harness on sale at MountainGear.com web today. Under 40 bucks again and all sizes available.

+1
my roommate, as well as my other climbing partner have the womens cadillacs, and they love them.

call em up, they'll get you set up right, and you'll never want a different harness ever again.

Well, carry on, but as already stated, I already purchased the Primrose for her (plus Scarpa Technos and a CAMP armor helmet all for under $150!)

While I appreciate Misty Mountain as a biz and manufacturer, their stuff never fit me well at all. I tried everything I could get my hands on when I bought my own last harness, including the cadillac and titan models. Prior to that the BD momentum was just fine for me for recreational use and I still use it on my training wall at home. So I reckon the primrose will be fine for her for occasional use. If she gets way into it, she can go spend more on cushier fancier stuff if she wants!

So why did you even ask?

3 recommendations in a row for the Primrose in less than an hour, decision made, done deal.

My gf also has the primrose. She seems happy with it. She's 5 feet and 101 lbs.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
