Simple solution. Drink more beer and your waist will get bigger. I can't believe nobody thought of this already. Misty mountain... New Castle is my rebuttle.

I've used several harnesses, my all time fav. was the Petzl Guru. They stopped making it and luckily i had an extra in the closet. When that shit the bed. I went with the Metolius 3-D contour Wide, they stopped making that. Went through a couple BD's and kinda dug them but ALWAYS LOVED the GURU, fast forward to the CADILLAC by Misty Mountain. Now, this is a harness that i REALLY LIKE super comfy and LOTS of gear loops. Matter of fact i'm thinkin' about buying a couple more just in case they decide to stop making the damn thing. As i said before just shell they extra dough and get a MISTY MOUNTAIN harness, and you'll forget about BD in few days. Also, start drinking lots of beer , not the cheap shit either. Pick up some Dog Fish Head and don't look back.

AHH Magic Hat, I was a #9 man for a long time. Might pick some up on the way home tonight. Gotta be at the packy before 2000 hrs though, or shit outta luck.

Tony, have you tried Arc'Teryx? I have their R320 in size small and my waist is 26-27. Because it's men's harness, I hate the way it rides too low. I'd gladly trade for a women's one if you got one ...

You could do what I did. Take some time away from climbing, stop working out, put on 15 pounds. Voila. Now you have a 29 inch waist. Lots of options.

Awww...you guys are the best. Makes me feel better. So, a few updates. What irks me about BD's response is that it simply isn't accurate. He said that no BD harness in an XS comes with four gear loops. However, both BD harnesses we have on the floor that come in an XS have four gear loops! That right there sort of sealed the deal. I'm giving up on them, as they clearly are so out of touch with their own products and don't even give customers the curtesy of simply going to look at their XS harnesses. He also said that this question comes up a bit, yet they still haven't thought of putting something on their website about it!? Lame.

As far as gaining more weight, believe me, I have tried! I have tried everything, but eating and drinking is not a good way to do it. I also drink my fair share of beer already, and I've been drinking microbrews since I wasn't allowed to.

My affinity for speed buckles isn't really hard and fast, but the whole speed buckle failure thing is a debate, and I'm already retiring a six year old Petzl Adjama with speed buckles. I'm willing to part with them though if it means just getting a freakin' harness that is safe.

Arc Teryx makes the R320a in an XS, but it's been sold out for months with little hope of it coming back in the near future. The small doesn't fit me though, as we carry it in a small and I've tried it. Thanks for the offer though!

  • sigh* I think the Petzl Corax *might* work. My new test for harnesses is hanging weight off the haul loop and seeing if I get that terrible sliding over my hips feeling I had on the second pitch of Osiris in Lumpy.

Thanks for the help all!

lack of speed buckles? my caddy has them, as does my alpine harness they made me...all you gotta do with misty is ask, and you shall receive.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
