Sometimes you just gotta wear pants.

Tell me about your favorite climbing pants.

I am looking for something light weight and non-cotton.

My favorites are Patagonioa High Wire Hemp Jeans, but they are no longer in production and ebay ain't got 'em either.

Thanks!

Arcteryx Rampart pants. They're freaking expensive ($99), but they're awesome. Really, really light and durable.

The Rampart shorts are great, too. Also crazy expensive ($89), but again, worth it.

I climb in $0.20 pants from Goodwill. Whatever fits. Whatever looks the most riduculous also scores me cool points, or anti-cool points.

Do expensive pants really make a difference? Am I missing out on something? I guess some kind of fast dry/waterproof breathable thing could be good.

I've put my Prana Zion pants through quite a lot of abuse over the course of two years and they show absolutely no signs of it. They're proving to be extremely durable.

They're lightweight, do a pretty good job of wicking away sweat, and they dry very quickly. The combination of a relatively loose fit and flexible fabric make it obvious that I haven't been doing yoga lately when I can't quite get my foot up on that high step hold.

Like many other climbing-specific pants, they're not the cheapest option but you get what you pay for. And, I have a feeling that I'll be getting my money's worth out of them for at least another 2 years.

The Verve Belikos are great, so are the Arc'Teryx Perimeters. I have a pair of the High Wires i might be willing to sell you if the price (and waist size) was right. My absolute favorite pair was the Patagonia Senders, but no one has those anymore either.

Kuhl renegade pants are the least restrictive and most comfortable pants I've ever owned. When I bought them I was worried about durability but they have survived a year of regular climbing and alpine adventures. Plus they roll up nicely into shorts if you can handle the Huck Finn look.
Otherwise it's the Prana Zion for colder weather. These need more pockets though for me to rave.

I WOULD wear these if I could find them.
Seriously, I need some ventilation in the New England summmertime, but I prefer some knee coverage so I don't cheesegrate down Rumney schist.
I suppose I could try to suck less and not fall.

I wear these Prana super-manly culottes, but they don't exactly let in the breeze I'm looking for.

Another vote for the Prana Stretch Zion pants. Haven't found anything better yet... Well, except for what I wore in the 80s.

these are all synthetic, come in just about any size, have zippered pockets on the legs, gusseted crotch, AND they are reasonably cheap ($49)!

I've had all sorts of climbing pants, including expensive (as in Arcteryx...) over the years, and these are as good or better as anything I've used. They are a bit warmer than most though (brushed finish), so they work best in alpine settings or cooler weather.

Prana Zion. Arc'Teryx Rampart are much lighter, and super durable. The aforementioned REI Adventures aren't bad for a heavier pant.
