Ignore User Feature

I've seen other forum platforms that allow you to ignore certain users. This feature makes it so their posts don't show up when you're viewing a topic. Is this possible on MP?

Not really. Essentially, if I didn't want to read any of your posts I would click on your profile and there would be a button that said ignore user. When you posted, instead of your post it would say something like "This message is hidden because Darren Mabe is on your ignore list".

P.S. You wouldn't be one of the people on my ignore list.

There is a Firefox script that can do this. Some people on Supertopo use it, or used to use it.

Seems kinda silly to ask them to write new code when all you have to do is avert your eyes.

Unfortunately, it's sometimes necessary to skip an entire page if you want to ignore the posts of some users.

Exactly.

That's funny actually. And true. But that page is still gonna show up; you'd still have to navigate to the next page cuz there are only 25 posts per page.

A cool feature that I've seen around would be to be able to put all the posts from a thread on one page. In that case, the "ignore-user" feature would be more useful. But with only 25 posts per page, I don't think it would be all that useful. Maybe that's just me.

There are a few who I always ignore simply because they never really contribute in a positive fashion. That does not mean they affect everyone in the same way or that they do not contribute to the rich tapestry of MP. Seems easier for all involved to just ignore them.
I guess it would be ideal if nothing showed up at all.

Imagine trying to explain this "dilemma" of yours to somebody who has real problems. Pathetic.

Essentially these scripts just locate text after a tag that identifies it. In this case it's the username, which always appears to the left of the posts. So the script simply tells your browser to skip displaying that username and text and go to the next one.

A more elaborate and funny code was the T-inator, which turned everything on a web page into something Mr. T would say.

How about a way to ignore bouldering? Hide all bouldering "routes" and photos? That would be way cool!

I fail to see how this is any more pathetic than discussing which night the cool kids climb at the Sacramento gym.
