If any one is intrested in checking out the revised topos for Descanso they are located here. Made them a little easier to read, hopefully.I will be posting sheets as I get them done.

It would be more readable if you scanned them at higher res.

Will try that. I can also send the PDF files by e-mail if some one wants them.

I want to give my personal thanks to Claudio Ricardez for updating my topos.
Eventually I would like to get the info on the other peoples routes there to add to the topo-
1-names of the routes and rateing.
2-who put them up and when.
3-perhaps a stars rateing for others to know which are some of the favorite ones and for ? reasons - such as: great moves, sustained, power moves, balance moves, odd moves, boulder problematic type moves, etc.

As I've noted elsewhere, this area is similar to Mt. Woodson due to short drive, short trail, climbable 9 months a year in near perfect weather, 3 months doable with early morning or better yet, afternoons in the Summer months as the Main Wall area falls into shade at approx. 3-4 pm. But as with most east county San Diego, it's the Fall thru Spring that is best for all day climbing.

I am thinking of a way to set some rock steps in place in the couple of sections of the trail that is both steep and rutted that would control much of the erosion and provide better ease of travel.

As for rattlesnakes, you're on your own!!!
I'll never forget the time when my son and I were doing a climb in the "Elf Land" area while some others where climbing "Masterpiece" and then taking a break afterwards just below the right side of the roof of the main wall.
An approx. 3' rattler that must have slid down from above into the top of the roof which is open thru and thru, all of a sudden came sliding out of the bottom of the roof and dropped hard to the base of the wall practically in their laps.
They jumped back and hollered at us about what just happened and I even heard the snake trying to fight gravity sliding down the near vertical face.
Their first assumption is that the snake died from the fall, but I hollered back that it's probably just stunned.
And seconds later I heard them shouting and running back for safety as it woke up, coiled up and was pissed off and rattleing to make it known.
The climb it came down from was "Leaping Lizards" which now we also call AKA "Raining Rattlesnakes".
It's amazing that we've never been bitten over the many years but we have had some really close calls for sure-part of the fun and adventure and therefore the warning: Climbing can be dangerous, but rattlesnakes are more dangerous on the smaller crag/bouldering areas than the climbing.
And don't you just love it when you reach for a loose hand hold and a scorpion comes running out from beneath it.
Or when you reach into a flake and hear the bats squeeking and then you look in and see them backing up only inches from your fingers.
Or the time when it was getting dark and we were heading out back to the car and a bat flew into my head and got hung up in my hair while I was on the edge of a cliff - glad he got free in about 10 seconds, 10 seconds of which I was about to lose my mind and could only envision Ray-bees' shots in my future.

I also want to find out from others about Lawson Pk. and Stonewall Pk. for topo updates so please let who you know to contact me or Claudio-thanks.

It's no trouble Martin, just cleaning them up a bit with AutoCAD so they are easier to read. Thanks again for making these available to everyone.
Trying to get out there to take some better pics so it's easier to tell which formations are which.

Claudio, as Escondido is a bit of a drive from Descanso just to take pictures, why don't I, now that I have a newer camera, take photos for you and depending on the resolution and such to send via e-mail, I could also burn them on a cd and mail to you or hand off personally - I plan on attending the last Tues. of the month meeting that Randy Leavitt and others have invited me to should you go to those on occassion.
I'll give you a call this week and we can talk.

can you take them with your iPhone and email them directly?

That would work out good. I would like to head out there anyways and get more trad practice on some of these climbs, but will probably have to wait until it cools down unless we can meet up out there one afternoon.
I will more than likely see you at the next ACSD meeting.
If you get any picks before then you can e-mail them to me or do as Darren above suggested if you have an iphone.

My wife has an I-phone.
So a good idea would be for me to switch phones with her along with taking pictures from our best camera and burn them on cd and e-mail what will work.
I think it would also be good Claudio if you and I could go there together one afternoon and do the tour and take pictures and such.
I'm home by 3:30pm and Descanso is 20 minutes from my house.
We could meet at my house or at Descanso-your call.
The rest of this week is busy but next week could work, or the next, or the next, no worries, no hurries, the rock isn't going anywhere soon.
I'm at 619 318-9462 but turn off my phone around 5pm unless I need to keep it on longer.
Talk to you soon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
