Drove up the approach road towards skywalker three weeks ago, slept in the truck at the base and watched the route go out of conditions as we had a good 8 inches of new snow fall overnight.

Thinking about a second try this weekend. Anyone been up there, is it already too late with all the warm weather? Any beta is much appreciated!

We climbed and skied the couloir on sunday. Conditions were very good with about an inch of fresh snow on a hard base layer (crampons and ice axe were useful as the snow was quite hard in the morning).
Princess Leia exit was in (up and down climbed it). Some snow climbers on their way as well.
4th of July trail head is accessible by car.

Anybody get a close look at this guy lately, especially with the heat? Worth the walk?

I climbed it on tuesday and it was on the way out, i imagine it is out by now. the top 30 feet or so were dry and there was a ten or fifteen foot barespot in the middle. It was still a fun outing and if would recommend doing the traverse to north arapahoe after you top out. If you want to give it a try i would do it ASAP.

Is the last bit just loose scree?

I climbed this last Saturday. At the time it was in pretty prime condition with a bit of exposed rock, alpine ice, and a lot of firm styrofoam snow.

See photos here

I'd say get after it ASAP, I doubt it will be in for much longer.

Nice pics Alex...amazing how steep it gets when it's melted out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
