Even in great weather its still single pitch granite climbing. Why would you go in the middle of the desert to do that?

For the same reason we go into the desert to do everything else.

I hope you're not comparing JT to the Castlewood Canyon south of Denver? One is a tiny sport climbing area (non-granite), and the other, well, is not comparable on any scale.

Anything wrong with rattlesnakes? They're yummy.

It seems like you might be a troll.

I would say she is underwhelmed by J-Tree at the moment.

As far as rattlesnake encounters go, CWC is in a class all by itself.

If you end up climbing in Josh when the temps are in the triple digits, clearly your decision making tree was flawed.

Yea I prefer Colorado to Cali any given time JTree could be fun in November but then its ice climbing season. Maybe march. We have not made it to the valley yet though.

Nice try Ellenor or whatever your real troll name is. I have been climbing at Castlewood for almost 15 years now, and I can tell you it is not even comparable to Vedauwoo. Vedauwoo is another favorite area of mine, and you would be hard pressed to find more than a handful of offwidth cracks at Castlewood.

I have never been to JTree, but I'm pretty sure Castlewood is about 100 times smaller and the rock quality can be dubious (Castlewood is conglomerate sandstone)

Have fun getting beat up on this one. You asked for it with your ridiculous, erroneous comparisons.

You have never been to Joshua Tree.

Look at grades they climb and date joined. Newbie. Troll. If they trad lead a 5.7 as they say, I'd like to see them on some runout J-Tree 5.7s. It may open their eyes a bit.

And oh yea, people do happen to come from all over the country to climb at Josh.

You obviously have never been to Josh!

Yeah for sure I agree J-Tree is just like a gym... I mean you even have to pay to get in. I would only go there if you have no time to go somewhere else. Oh and the valley? Heard it is pretty much just 2-3 pitch sport climbs, way over bolted too. Gunks is probably the only real trad area left in the country. IMO

Say what you will, at least JTree isn't Red Rock.

Can't say I ever heard of Castlewood though.

+1 them snakes are everywhere! But there is decent enough climbing at CWC for sure.... its not tall but can be a blast! Worth risking the snakes, even

I figured as much myself. Writing and thinking styles too similar. Plus, the user name Elena sera (= will be) Jose (Ellenor becomes Jose), changes profile gender to male. Only question is whether she's undergoing sex change therapy.
