Thailand in November???

The Mrs. and I are thinking about traveling to Thailand in early November and coming back by Thanksgiving. I've been seeing conflicting reports as to when the rainy season ends and the high season starts in the Railey area. Anyone been there in November? Does rain last all day and rule out any climbing? Any info would be appreciated.

It depends on where in Thailand you are, but I spent pretty much all of November in Tonsai a few years ago. I was told it was a wetter year than normal, but we got a fair amount of rain early on. Toward the end of November, beginning of December, rain was rarely an issue. There were a few days early on where climbing wasn't really possible on most of the walls due to seepage, but for the most part, there was a dry route somewhere almost always since so many routes are severely overhanging.

Prices do start increasing for lodging with high season and then peak season. High season is usually somewhere around November, and peak is December and January. It also started to get noticeably more crowded towards the end of our stay in early December. Basically, if you can deal with a few forced rest days due to rain, its worth it for the lower price and lower crowd levels.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the tips. Looks like we are going to make it happen. I'll cross my fingers for some dry spells.
