Automatic Photo Resizing

The new 5 Mb limit for uploading photos should be more than enough, but it still might be worthwhile to automatically resize very large photos to some predetermined limit (say 3.5 Mb).

With a resize limit, the max limit for uploading could be eliminated.

Automatic photo resizing was a feature on CB.com; any size photo could be uploaded.

Photos are reduced to a max pixel dimension (2000 x 1500), which effectively limits the file size. There has to be some upload limit, for our security and the user's sanity. In my experience, you probably made a mistake if you have a jpeg over 5MB from any normal camera.

Kinda funny how time flies, huh?

Ha! The limit is now 15 MB.

Before seeing this I coincidentally enlarged the photo (on photo pages) because smaller monitors have pretty much phased out since that post six years ago.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
