I live in Nashville and climb at the Obed or Chattanooga just about every weekend when the weather is good. Let me know if you want to meet up!

Dude, you are headed to the Southeast at the exact wrong time of year. Season is closing up there; June is not the time to go to HP 40. Sure, the locals suffer though it, but you'd be better off staying in CO/WY.

climbing in the heat is a lot tougher physically and mentally but if you like to climb its not really that bad it just makes you tougher. but yeah hints why im heading to colorado at the end of may

Howdy folks,

Heading up to Arkansas/HCR and wanted to get the latest update on the ticks and chiggers.

I know my parent's place (near Harrison/Marshall) hasn't received any real rain in the last few months so I'm hoping the ticks and chiggers will be not so bad.

How is it up there?

Also hoping to check out Stack Rock this visit. I've got the Fennel/RCA and Frisbe/AR guidebooks so I think I'm good on directions, but any additional info/hints would be appreciated.

bugs are out. the only bugs that ever bother me at horseshoe are some type of fly. ticks and chiggers are out for sure. i never get them while climbing but i got a few ticks walking through a field to go fishing

We went out to Stack Rock yesterday and the vegetation was THICK.

We found a few ticks on us from the hike in, but the hike out (around the east side of the Rock) was full-on jungle bush-wacking and we had 10 to 20 ticks crawling on us by the time we got back to the truck. Spent the next 10 minutes turning our clothes inside-out, flicking them off, and checking each other.

It was a little bit hot for my wife but we had some fun. Need to go back there in the early spring or fall to really enjoy the place.
