...we can probably just spray it on one of the walls in the canyon, whipping post would be good...or the side of my van (white), a white sheet, or we'll find a screen. I'll confirm we can get a showing, sometimes the marketing thing is a problem, but I'll let you know for sure. Sounds like Bob's Restauraunt might help us cater Sat. night, perhaps a nominal donation to free. Doc Martin's in Taos does up some good, healthy grub. We'll see how this develops and I'll keep you informed. Bob was at Penitente this weekend checking things out.
Cheers, Mike

Maybe one downer.. we are due some good moisture, but not enough. A campfire thing may not be good.
Anyway.. it should be plenty warm by May.

Food from Doc's ? sounds good to me.

All right!
2 weeks away and the gear and grub are coming together. It does look like we should be getting some more donations which I will list as they show up.

Bob has received some donations into the Fixe Account and thank you all for this. We still could use more to cover the upgrades.

Kevin Riley from ARI (Anchor Replacementt Initiative) came through yesterday with this contribution:

"Shipment went out today. It contained:

50 hangers
20 3/8” bolts
8 chain & rings

Thanks for your time and efforts! "

Thank you Kevin.

Bob is compiling the rest of the swag, some to auction, some prizes for the biggest contributors of time and positive vibe. Please pitch in and either come join us, or drop a donation to FIXE. And we will also pass the hat at the campground to cover the gear we all place if you wish to contribute.
Thanks to everyone that has offered and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Updates to follow...

Hey, I am interested in meeting some climbers and can do trail work/labor, should I just show up on Friday nite and camp and just be there on saturday morning?

Absolutely, all are welcome and appreciated. Just walk up to anyone and introduce yourself. Bob and others will be there on Friday, I have to be at the UNM med school graduation to hood a student of mine and then I'll be there Saturday am. We should have a few drills and people to talk to about removing/placing bolts, hangers, anchors and even some route setting theory. The BLM is setting up to work on trails, should have tools and a plan, but I'm not sure of what that entails as Bob has worked on this with them.

So it goes on graduation weekend, come whenever with whomever. We're going to be there through Sunday on the weekend of May 11-13. Looking forward to having a beer with you.
Best,
Mike

Planning to come down to help for the event - is there any particular arrangement for camping? Sounds like there might be a very full campground... Thanks!

Great Erika, glad to have you and all are welcome. It is Bob's understanding that the BLM will waive camping fees for volunteers. There are other options for camping around and I would suggest you drop in and find a spot for a tent as there are many good sites in the upgraded campground. Please don't let the turnout deter you. There will be work to do...

Bob and I ran into Tim Standing in the parking area and he threw in a lot of help and alot of the new gear you will find on these climbs (BTBS and TFTH). The links at the ends of the old chains were very grooved and worn. One of the anchor hangers is a piece of drilled aluminum angle stock the other looks like a paper thin sawed piton. This is from the Tanks/Breakdown anchor, the chain for Bullet is still in place and will be removed. It had one quicklink worn half way through. All the routes now have their own sport anchors. Please use draws and then rap or lower off only when you clean your gear.
This photo is the beginning of what should be a large pile of mank from this crag. Let's get 'er done...come on out and help May 11-13. Most of the work will start on May 12.

Disclaimer: Please be careful climbing here and in the process of trying to upgrade the hardware. As we know, we do this and you and I climb at your/our own risk. The state of the hardware here is generally OK, and the folks in the past put up what they had and gave alot of people alot of bliss. Now it is time to try to pay that forward. Of course, the new materials should improve, but can not insure the safety of the climber, blah, blah, blah... Please be smart and safe.

Mank from Bullet the Blue Sky and Tanks for the Huecos (chain). Some angle iron, bent-spinner SMCs, Sawed off pitons-hangers, Chain with worn links (TFTH) replaced with Mussy Hooks... 2 bolts were bad and need to be chopped, one was pounded in. Many of the bolts that were good got new hangers (Break down still needs some stainless SMC (mostly bent-spinners) replaced but I tightened down the lowest bolt on that line). More to come.

Lots going on on the coming weekend.

For those that love a good "sushi fest" please get in touch with Doug and put in your order. I believe you can contact him on Facebook but I'll look for other contacts as well.
Douglas La Farge
"So there's 25 confirmed that are going but so far as I can tell only four are in for sushi. Me, Kari, Bob and Guy. When the seared Nairagi Toro is devoured and your not in on it don't say I didn't give you the chance. ha!

Douglas La Farge Alright... I got you in for sushi. it's $30 and if you really don't think you'll make it let me know as I'm basically covering for ya. you won't be disappointed :-)"

Any other confirmations about grub ?

nature · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Jan 2007 · Points: 0

I can confirm that the Tasmanian Salmon, Nairagi Toro, and Tombo (albacore) has been ordered from Hawaii.

Taostone · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Dec 2006 · Points: 0

Bob D said he has Brats, Doc Martins famous Green Chile stew, a big salad for the masses. The sushi Fest usually needs you to order in advance.

nature · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Jan 2007 · Points: 0

I'll have extra for up to a half a dozen people.

it's not a "pre-order" deal but rather have $30 on hand and you can eat all the sushi you want.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
