Which Pulley?

After almost breaking my back on our last two trips to Yosemite using small Petzl Fixe pulley and Mini-Traxion for hauling, I decided to upgrade my haul system. I'm gonna use the 2:1 hauling described on the climbing.com. So, what pulleys do you guys use? I'm leaning toward the CMI "Original" pulley but still unsure which one I should get. Bearing vs Bushing?

Petzl Rescue works nicely.

Hi, sorry for the (possibly) stupid question, but what's the piece of plastic bottle there for?

to protect the rope/knot from rubbing on the rock on the way up

I use the CAMP version of the same CMI pulley and it works great. A bit big, but whatever.

Made the switch after a smaller bluewater bushings pulley crapped out on the hauls to heart ledges. Most excruciating time of my life. The pulley was screeching like car tires in an accident and half the time, the pulley wouldn't even turn. Never again.

I think I went for ball bearings over bushings in the new pulley. Not sure if it'll matter with the larger diameter, but sure did with the smaller.

Nice setup, Greg. Any reason why you are using the ropeman style device for hauling instead of ascender?

Kevin, I know how you feel. My Fixe got no leverage, small and at 70% efficient, I think I was gonna break my back.

8.1mm dynamic rope as daisy, CAMP Lift ascenders on each biner.
I use the CAMP Lift ascender because it's already part of my adjustable daisy. It slides down the rope very smoothly without needing to hang a very heavy weight on it for the automatic ratchet reset.

O, dang... that's some hi-tech gear over there. No more daisy static falls! Aren't that bulky? Especially in the shallow flaring cracks?

I loved this setup on Mescalito.
The ascenders never got in the way.
Makes cleaning very efficient if you can clip the subsequent piece to un-weight the current one.

Sweet rig! I'll probably stick with daisy for now for my the Prow attempt. Definitely interested in trying that style of setup out.

Randy, How much? I get pretty good deal on Petzl stuff from time to time so if you beat the price, I would be interested.

NIce set up, Greg. I'll bet your Camp Lift is lighter than the Petzl Basic I use. I'll have to check one out....

Cool system for your daisies and aiders!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
