Amateur hour. You should've used lye. It's a way better base and will leave a much purer salt in your rope. Also, get with the times and crank up some NOEffects.

Remember when Joey put lye in the Bedbug's coffee? Man, that was sweet. Oh, wait. Mickey Rourke was Joey. "Joeeeeeey! Dey took my thumb!!!!" Yeah.

N (normality) refers to the number of H+ ions in an acidic solution or OH- ions in a basic solution per liter. 6M HCl is the same as 6N HCl since it's monoprotic. 6M H2SO4 is equivalent to 12N H2SO4 since it's diprotic (effectively twice as acidic per mole).

Sorry about making this thread somewhat informative. Carry on.

Your going to need a ton of Sharpie markers to color in your bleached rope. It's fine, I use it to mark the middles of all my ropes.

the second hydrogen doesn't really disassociate though, compared to the first H3O+. Gotta look at the Ka1 and Ka2. It's more of a very weak acid, changes the pH by maybe 0.001. usually it's ignored in calculations.

I fucking hate chemistry, just signed up for organic during the fall semester. Hopefully it isn't as bad as everyone says, I guess I'll just have to wait and see for myself.

IV league... isn't that a remedial school for nurses?

I couldn't stand basic (inorganic) chemistry either, but orgo is great (taking part 3 now). It's mostly concepts instead of calculations (kinda like philosophy of chemistry). Plus, diagrams/3-D models are way more fun than data tables.

Let see, last took any inorganic about '72, an organic refresher about '91 was more fun. It's all greek to me these days. Should pick up a textbook and review before attemmpting to enter the forums at MP site these days!

It wasn't so long ago that one could compete in the "armchair olympics" with nothing but a mastery of physics, a mention of John Long, and a slight buzz going. The times are a-changing.

No, it's the 4th league. Speaking of which, is the First League same as the Hyoomen League?

I'm a biotech major, I was told to just jump straight into biochem and learn the little O chem I need to know on the side. That's not allowed though.

The chemistry series doesn't really cater to biotech/plant pathology majors. It's for premed and chem majors. I like the subject matter and people working in plant pathology/biotech, they all seem to be more relaxed and aren't afraid to come together to work out a solution. The stuff I've been doing as a freshman is really cool and if the profs weren't so easy going I wouldn't get to do similar work in premed until I was at least an upperclassman.

HAve fun with your degree in organic, that sounds like my worst nightmare. If I have a chemistry problem like that I'll just call you up and get my answer that way!

Way to ruin the troll, guys. Why don't you discuss some climbing physics while you are f@cking at it!

Hope you plan on climbing alot after that biotech degree, unless you got an inside to a job. Field seems to have hit hard times....my niece has her masters in biotech and came up with nothing in the job world out East in the biotech center of the US, for 5 years, thus is now a way over qualified high school teacher. Good luck.

She should have started up her own company, plenty of work out there. Basically every idea can become a business. The problem is most science types don't know jack shit about keeping something like that afloat, so the key is to turn it over to someone who can as quickly as possible.

off the top of my head though, find a way to pull estrogen out of water, worth billions. A treatment for breaking down chewing gum on the sidewalk, new york would pay for that. a bug that causes rainfall and can be inexpensively put into the environment (working on that one right now). potatoes that diabetics can eat with less fluctuation of blood glucose levels.

there's plenty of stuff to keep people busy.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
