"I found good climbing partners right away. The climbing is amazing! There is every type of climbing and rock except alpine. The cost of living is high, but I guess you get used to it... I've lived all over, including several places in Idaho, and the climbing in Flag by sheer quantity blows every other place I've lived out of the water. I would say it is easily one of the best climbing towns in the country."

Yep, I agree - the only down-side to me was expensive rent and the difficulty of job-finding. Also, if you don't like wind/cold, it can be a little challenging in the winter.

Thanks for all of the information everyone. Sounds like an amazing place, job is the main reason for us to move. But I would certainly be stoked if it works out.

To be honest, some of the climbing is getting really crowded. I was at the waterfall area yesterday and there were two other groups there.

Agreed MD. I was in one of the other parties at the waterfall yesterday and sharing a world-class area with two other parties was not cool.

Seriously though, I don't think I have ever seen more than three parties at the waterfall. That is pretty amazing!

Yeah it is just like Boulder.....except for the cowboys, Navajos, and Mexican-Americans whose families have been there for 100 years. Curiously everyone I have met in Flag when visiting my wife's family there are small business owners, teachers, police officers, retired city managers, etc. Maybe you need to get out of your bubble a little bit.

When you look below the surface everyplace is more than the stereotype people have of it. I lived in Boulder for 2 years and even it was not as shallow as everyone (myself include) often complains about.

My impression is that competition for jobs can be stiff (lots of folks want to live there). I think Angela & Darren's approach of living just outside of town is a great solution to the high housing costs.

Best of luck to Adam with the possible move. The southwest is a great place to live.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
