IS THE CLIMBNG OVER????

Hey!
My boyfriend and I are about 5 months into the pregnancy now, and the first thing I thought was, "how is this going to affect our climbing?" In the beginning I was so sick, I couldn't even go to the gym- but that gets better. I still get sick, but it's not bad enough to keep me from the gym. Let her know she will be able to get back there. She can get the Petzl 8003 ( petzl.com/en/outdoor/full-b…) and keep top roping as far along as she wants! I recommend preparing ahead of time for some struggles, but once her muscles catch up with the weight gain, it gets easier. I can really only speak to climbing during the pregnancy, as our child isn't born yet - but I imagine that, and judging by what everyone else has said, it will be doable; I actually think it'll be pretty neat! Honestly, climbing while pregnant isn't bad, and it's been one of the best things about my days during this terribly hard endeavor we call pregnancy.

Good luck!!

I didn't start climbing until my kid was about 2 or 3. I've got a different situation though: she's with her ma half the time and with me the other half. So once in awhile when she was at her ma's house, I'd get out (barring other weekend fix-it build-it study-it activities). Later, after she was 5 or 6, I'd put her on the gri-gri and tie her to a tree.

She's 15 now and has her own idea of a fun weekend. I'm not cool, smart, or hip anymore, so she actually likes it when I head out to meet my buddy for some rock adventures. She never cares if I'm not home unless she needs cash.

No its not over but your style might shift a bit. I find now bouldering is really good for the family. Usually a short walk out the area and the little guy can play around in the great outdoors. Get a childcarrying backpack and use that until they can walk on their own. We do lots of hikes with him in the pack. You might not get full day or weekend or even week long trips out on the mountain but the time you get will be so great. just last weekend i watched my 18month old son climb some boulders and try to climb the boulder i was working on. It was amazing. Have fun!!! Enjoy every second

Don't know if you've come across this or not. But this is the blog of a family who climbs. I haven't read TOO much of it, but it looks like this might be up your alley. The adventure doesn't stop man. It's just beginning!
