Screw all of you that can climb with thin gloves!!! I got frostbite on hands while at survival school many years ago and they have never been the same. Needless to say I have to wear heavier gloves even on mild days. Cool ideas though.

Not that I can see. Mine were 15 bucks at my local sports authority. Theyre all pretty much the same, however some are made to be used in 100+ degree heat in the summer. You dont want those. They are very thin lycra. You want those which have some meat to them to protect your hands and keep them as warm as possible while giving you great dexterity.

I will honestly never buy another pair of ice climbing gloves. Batting gloves it is for me. DO NOT BUY FOOTBALL RECEIVER GLOVES!!!!! They seem REALLY tacky on the palms and feel great initially. Until they get the slightest bit wet. Then they become slick as snot rubber on rubber.

I also use bat tape for the upper portion of the shaft on my Fusions. Theyre lovely now...so comfy. Along with the gloves, perfect combo

I have been using racquetball gloves and they work great. Basically the same thing as batting gloves, golf, goalie, etc.

These are mine and have a little neoprene over the lower 2 fingers, which helps since i tend to bash my knuckles a lot.

i did climb with a guy wearing those big rubber gloves once. didn't lead anything and dropped a screw cleaning a pitch. can't say for sure it was the gloves but i'm sure they didn't help. golf gloves may come in handy once you realize that ice climbing sucks and take up golf instead. seems to be common in places where too much ice climbing goes on.

Jeremy Monahan wrote: blackdiamondequipment.com/e… The best mixed gloves I have ever used. Had them for 3 seasons, they are just as sticky as the day I bought them. The rubber palm is starting to peel a little bit, but not too bad for 3 seasons of use. The only downside is that they do not insulate well, especially on windy days. I have a pair of thin Manzella liners that work pretty well, but it was not easy to find a pair of liners that fit inside the gloves. They are just as grippy when wet, and they stay remarkably warm when they get soaked, except when its super cold.
+1 for these! simply awesome, I even belay in them often and the grip isn't terribly effected.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
