Dean Potter Special on Nat Geo (This Sunday, 2/12/12)

Ya about that... there is this thing called time zones where shows play at different times across the country. Apparently this is news to you??

Frank - Yeah, it wasn't until I was away from the computer I realized the whole world doesn't live in Denver. By my account is should be on in Cali right now (I think). For you guys without a TV it was pretty sweet. I was glad they covered climbing as much as the wingsuit stuff.

Dean continues to sack up with balls way bigger than I could ever muster for these free solo climbs. Makes you feel pretty weak yelling take on your plastic 5.10 after work!

Its alright, I think most people have enough common sense to realize television shows don't air at the exact same time across the entire country.... at least I thought they did.

The link to Nat Geo has the video advertising the show starting at 8 PM. No mention of time zones. Gee, is it possible it could be at 8 PM in all time zones? (Dorky, the answer is "yes"). It's 7:31 PST and not on now.

Then why were you so confused when Alaska State Troopers was on at 6?

Some shows are the same time and some are adjusted and shown at different times across the country. FrankPeniS, thanks for the continual update as to whats on your tv.... can you update us again at 9:12 PST as to whats on your location? Your updates are riveting!

I was confused because the OP said the show started at 6 PM. I hadn't watched the link yet. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my posts. I'm flattered!

I kinda thought the same thing. He seems cool and everything. And he does some really incredible stuff in that show. But man, at times he just seemed really out of it and I had no idea what he was talking about. Pretty chill dude nonetheless.

HAHA! There is a reason for the anti-dean tide. His spiritual propaganda and the social media do not coincide with one another. He is like the local priest who continually does great for the community... you know like raping little children and embezzling money from the people of the church.

I don't blame the guy... He wouldn't be able to do a lot of his performances if the sponsors didn't pay for his gear and traveling expenses, buttt come on you wouldn't see Steve House or Barry Blanchard going into their spiritual awakening of becoming one with a bird.

Have you even read Steve House's book? He does talk about how being in the mountains gives him peace and spirit and all that. I would be careful bashing on Dean. He's definitely a little out there, but I don't see many other people soloing the Alien Roof or highlining w/ no back up. I also think that Dean would be doing more or less the same stuff he is doing now even if he didn't have the sponsors he does (many of which he lost after climbing the Delicate Arch) Finally, comparing Dean to a pedophiliac priest? Forced and baseless.

Chances are if you have a problem with Dean you are Meathead and or just jealous...

If only more people where more out there and less "here" and so full of and caught up in bullshit!!

Each to there own though i am sure the Dean types enjoy the company of the meathead types as much as do you meatheads.
