Second Pullout Trail Day - Saturday, February 11th

The Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council and other concerned climbers will be hosting a trail day at the Second Pullout (aka Calico 2). In case anyone's noticed the totally trashed condition of the trails there, we will be doing something about it. The general order of the day includes installing post and rail fencing, and rehabbing all of the land that has been destroyed by folks cutting the switchbacks. We will be meeting there around 0900. Tools will be provided. I've even heard something about beers at the campground later. More details to follow. Feel free to check out the LVCLC Facebook page for updates.

It would be awesome to see a bunch of locals there, and hopefully some out-of-towners too. facebook.com/pages/Las-Vega…

Bump for giving a little back to our climbing area. If folks would like to come, but can only spare a few hours due to work constraints or the like, that's fine.

I'll be there

jasmine and i will be there, we hope to arrive before noon and stay until 3.

keep some gigantic boulders around for me to lift, smash, or throw: you guys all climb so much better than me but lifting heavy stuff?! now that's MY time to shine! LOL...

see everyone on saturday,

jon

p.s. if you haven't done trail work before, don't be shy. the BLM will have really great experts around to direct us and there is a full range of directives/ opportunities for every level. even grandma can come out and throw down with us! (but please tell her to leave the booze, bling, and playing cards at home... she can still wear the stunner shades if she really presses the issue but we'll ask her not to make any illegitimate "business" deals within the park ;)

p.p.s. disregard the p.s. if your grandma is not a fast-talking, drug-slinging, card-playing booze-hound...

You misrepresent me, son. I am trying to educate the Corridor crew (i suppose a bunch of tourists too) how to stay on the trail. since they have neither the brains nor the outdoor ethics to do so, I'm gonna build a BIG FUCKING FENCE to assist in the decision making process. Killis, thank you for all the bolts you've replaced. I know it's hard, thankless work, so let me be the second(?) to thank you.

Oh yeah, everyone else come do some trail work on Saturday!

Frosty beverages and munchies at one of the group sites at the CG afterwards. We will also provide some water, but don't forget to bring your own.

I wish I could make it, but I have to work a 16 hour shift tomorrow.

If there is ever a trail day on a Monday, I'll try my best to make it.

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped today! I was really impressed with our turnout. We got a bunch of work done, and it does look good. I really appreciate those who gave up a little bit of climbing, in order to give something back to the community. (for those local climbers passing by who stated that they're don't do community service, GFY :-)

Extremely well put!! It was a rough but worthy project. Next time just shut up and walk by, and may your karma follow you. Thanks to all that helped.

Life gets in the way of living sometimes and yesterday was one of those times for me. I was really looking forward to getting out there and getting sweaty and dirty. If there is follow-up work needed I am all in.

Scott, Nick and everyone who volunteered: Thanks a MILLION!!!!!

I only found about this today, and saw the fence and filled in shortcuts, good work! Also some real big jerks walking up the blocked off trail(they said nothing when confronted by someone who volunteered..) If anyone can point me in the direction of bolts that need replacing though, that's something I can do. Seems I'll be here through the winter, time to give back. PM or email, alliandasmit@yahoo.de with locations.

I was really amazed at the get s&%t done attitude of the crew. Considering the perfect weather and that it was on a Saturday, I was expecting more of a turnout but those that were there kicked ass.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
