San Luis Obispo. Oh wait, that wasn't one of the choices!

I'm open to new cities. Too many choices, I need to narrow it down to 5 cities.

I would like to live in a large city over 150,000 people within 5-6hrs of top climbing spots.

Given the choice, Vegas is the right choice

Boston
2.5 hrs to Rumney
3 hrs to North Conway
3.5 hrs to the Gunks
5 hrs to the Adirondacks

What else do you want? Oh and access to east coast crud skiing plus lots of ice to climb, and chowdah to eat.

So that would explain why you're in Boulder!

SLC: <1 hour from anywhere in the city to LCC, Big Cottonwood, Ferguson, Echo Canyon, etc. <2.5 hours from AF, Maple. <3.5 hours from City of Rocks, Castle Rock, Massacre, etc. <6 hours from Indian Creek, St. George areas.

You could definitely do worse. However, Vegas is less than an hour from Red Rock, and probably less than 2 from the Virgin River and St. George areas, and probably relatively close to J Tree. Plus the added benefit of being able to climb every month.

To be clear, the closest places to climb in SLC are not really places you would travel to, to go climbing. Red Rock definitely is a climbing destination.

A strange and very over estimated time breakdown of the driving distances in Utah but it does give a fairly decent description of the amount of climbing that Utah has to offer.

For thick skinned, open minded, and/or street wise folks with a sense of humor, and no kids to raise , Vegas is your answer! Enough diversity of people to keep things interesting (who wants to live somewhere where the people are all too similar? Boring!), 24/7 entertainment whenever you feel like indulging, and a good base camp to venture into Cali, Utah, Arizona, and Central, and Northern Nevada for anything, and everything. Our job market sucks right now, but rent, and homes are dirt cheap. I love Sin City; so many good times, and believe it, or not, there's good folks out here.

Bud, 5-6 hours? Why are your standards so low. In the Denver/ Boulder area, how about 50-60 minutes? That will cover Eldo, RMNP, Boulder Canyon and CCC at the very least. And if your willing to drive 5-6 hours, throw Ouray (if you like ice of course), Rifle and the Black Canyon in there. I am already a few deep so I know I am forgetting some, this was just off the top of my head. Help me out here front range folk!

For you, SLC, the locals social agenda is a little closer to your own.

And some people we know even climb at work too...

Let's all give a round of applause to the awesome climber performers, and riggers of Cirque Du Soleil; Vegas loves you, baby!

Grand Junction is better than either.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
