I purchased the old style friends from GearX last night on a closeout sale. I was hesitant at first because I am leaving for JTree in about 2 weeks and wanted to make sure I had the gear before I made the move. I wrote my concerns in the comments and picked the standard 10 day shipping. I just received a phone call from GearX confirming my order and promising it will be here in time. Their personal service really made my day and just thought I would share it with you all. Short version= GearX +1 by the way the Wild Country Tech Friends are 25% off

I purchased from them back in May and got an even sweeter deal on the Tech Friends (Memorial Day savings on top of closeout prices), and agree that they provide great customer service whether over the phone or through email. I'm still surprised that the Tech Friends haven't sold out - great deal on the 3 & 4 piece sets. I'm thinking they might drop the price further for a holiday sale this year and finally get rid of the 'old' Friends.

Yeah, I have never used a friend, but I figured three cams (needed the third for free shipping) wouldn't be a bad gear choice for some extras. I'm looking forward to placing them

I live in Burlington -- GearX is Outdoor Gear Exchange. An awesome gear shop. Great, no BS service. Bought tons of gear there, never had a single problem.

Yeah, I drive over to VT just to go to Gear X. They are super friendly and have a great selection. They also have a ton of consigned gear and clothes as well. They were even really understanding when I brought back some climbing shoes simply because I'd had too many pints at American Flatbread before I tried them on and didn't realize they didn't fit well.

I can't agree more. I started loving their shop when I went there when I was just starting mountain climbing and they are really helpful.

+1 for Gear X from me too, they've always been great to deal with and little personal touches have always been appreciated.

Never used GearX before, but thats good to know. I mainly stick to Moosejaw cause of the points and they have always treated me well. I bought a rope recently and decided to buy it from Alpenglow cause the deal on it could not be beat. Problem was it took me one month to get the damn thing. Next time I decide to try something new, I'll check out GearX.
