Successful attempts on easier terrain. Learning to control your board. Easier said than done, but the right instruction will put you in the right place for success.

Day 2: Did a green successfully without falling and got halfway down a blue. My main problem now seems to be speed control. But it was night and day from the first day of lessons

Nice job and congrats Evan! Just remember to knock off some speed before each turn and you'll be golden.

To kill speed on your toeside, pull up on your front heel followed by your back heel - steers you across the slope and you will naturally skid.

On your heelside, pull up on your front toes followed by your rear toes.

Good luck.

P.S. it isn't a large or aggressive move with your feet to slow down. Play with how big or small you need to move to adjust your board, you'll be surprised with how small it can be.

I am also an instructor and Derek is right about everything. Sounds like you're making progress good work. Just wait till you get a little better and get to ride some powder then you will really see when a board is the shit. Keep it up

I like how all the snowboarders are on here acting like it's hard! Give me a god damn break! Look at the MAJORITY of dudes snowboarding, they are all out of shape. Sack up and learn to tele and then start talking about how hard it is.

Advice don't be a pansy and commit to the toe side edge. Once you do that it is all over and you'll be the next shawn white. Simple as that don't listen to any of the other wankers on this site... they are trying to make themselves feel better about being nancy boy's.

K2 telemark... "if it were easy they would call it snowboarding"

Comparing the fitness of snowboarders to skiers? How many old dudes can snowboard? 99% of them are on skis. Guess snowboarding is too easy for them.

I prefer the carving that snowboarding offers. Sounds like you prefer tele, you know, being on your knees more.

I beg to differ sir. I see a ton of old dudes and fat dudes on snowboards. It isn't hard to learn, so stop trying to act like your some kinda bad ass. I know people who tele are all a bunch of knee dropping forest fairies, and that is all good, but two pages of knuckle draggers acting like snowboarding is hard has become a little tired.

I'm not trying to knock snowboarding, not everyone can ride a snow bike, and the rest need to have something to do...

OH... I noticed on your little page that you like tea bagging, but you misspelled tea (peak), so you must know a little about being on your knees!

Hi, 1995 is on the phone and they want their slogan back.

K2 doesn't even have a telemark line anymore. The advent of four buckle plastic tele boots, ultra stiff cartridge bindings, binding risers, and fatter skis have made tele way way easier.

Yeah sure if your rocking merrell supercomps and some floppy cable bindings, then tele is hard. Otherwise your just some poofter who's stuck in the past.

What he said...and nobody cares that you tele.

Then what is it you are trying to do, besides troll a positive forum trying to help somebody learn a skill? Like Joe said, nobody cares that you tele, nobody cares what you think is easy or hard, I certainly don't care that you will try to degrade me by looking at my climbing ability as I've posted it on this site or some other dumb shit. Go get a life, go make some nice tele turns, whatever, but nobody here gives two shits about you. Just so you know.
