Hello everybody I was just chiming in about the bouldering guide and this will be the only thread I post to about the guide from now on. I wanted to let everyone what I have been working on. Since now I have been unemployed and searching for work I have been putting the pieces together. Which is a great deal of work due to the fact of the secretive nature of most boulderers out there.
I have been working a bit on Boatrock and Yonah. I have also wondered the woods at Shaking Rock. A few other places I am going to keep a lid on for now. I still need first ascent info and grade info for Blood Mountain, and someone to fill in the blanks at Rocktown. I have looked a bit around the Chattooga area and found only a few boulders. If you paddle its a fun little lunch break.
Rocktown I have a bunch of questions for this area all I have to rely on for now is a Dr topo pamphlet. Yea and it has a bunch of missing links. I will try to contact the first ascent party's to the area to get some beta. Also I am looking for new ascents, recent activity in the area. I need a good tour guide who knows the area well and has a little time on thier hands to allow me to photograph and write down given info.
Sandrock, Yea I know its a crazy place but its access is undeniably easy and camping is simple. I need to talk with Adam Henry before I get to starting a write up about the area. I know he has a Guide coming out and I am simply not wanting to cover a area if the A is got it covered. So I spent a few days there last week and wandered the area and photographed a ton of rock. Any info I receive from there will be put on hold till I hear from Adam.
Pot Point Boulders, Haven't seen them yet but am planning to run up there in the next month to run amuck through the forest with a camera and I will need someone to show me around the area. It will make my time much better spent and greatly appreciated. Also first ascent info and Grades for boulder Problems are a must.
I have been talking with a pilot and looking to take to the sky as soon as the foliage falls from the trees. I also have a few leads from emails sent from other users. Thanks for the help. I have a ton of work ahead of me and have been tinkering with it in my spare time, Which has been alot lately. If you have a area that you have been developing and would like documented chime in anytime or shoot me a PM. I will be including small areas and destination crags together. Depending on the quality and size of the book.
Now for the kicker the guide is going to hopefully be finished by summer of next year and I am tring to get as much route info as possible. To bring you a accurate guide it is taking some time. At this time I need someone to walk the woods and show me problems and tell me grades. I will be taking photos, but that usually goes by quickly. We all like photos right, Well this book mis not all topos. Think Red River Gorge Guide for boulderers. Color pics with some details on starts finishes and a brief discription of said route. Without giving away the beta. The beta you will need to figure out after all its called a problem. You can call with info or suggestions 678-887-6814
Lenny
Also I have not talked about a few more areas as I will get to those after I get the info for these areas stated.
Little Rock City will not be included in the guide due to Access issues, sorry but thats what is best. Any questions feel free to ask. Want to see a crag in the guide? Point me to the first ascent partys and developers. I will look in to leads as time permits. Anyone interested about the bouldering around the Appalachian country? well Soon come. I hope all is well and I will keep in touch with updates when I have them
