If I am reading that correctly, 10 observed slides just yesterday in the Northern San Juan:

Hey Dale, here's a link to a conditions report that is aimed at The Springs area. To sum it up, Silver Cascade is climbable, a little thin and wet. Just don't go crazy. Hully Gully I would suggest more time for and the bottom pitch is completely out. Lincoln is in good if your beginners are a little hardier and can handle more of a walk.

jmeizis - thank you very much! Sshh...we are not suppose to talk about Hully Gully ;)

Eh, I will go solo Lincoln as they would not like the hike up.

Happy climbing,

Dale

Foxbox,

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, I meant the Clear Creek Canyon ice just west of Golden along US 6...not North Clear Creek area.

Does anyone know if Hessie Chimney has any ice in it now?

Camp Bird Road was busy for a Wednesday today with a wait for all the popular lines. Chockstone, Choppo's, Slip Sliding, and Skylight, all had ice, but it was a little wet. It was a warm day. Other things were still forming. Someone was on the Ribbon after their snowfall. Ice Park opens on the 17th.

Vail is having quite alot of the melt freeze cycle the last couple of days. (good and bad) The huge curtain for Pitch Black to the left of the Dez fell off. A couple of other minor curtains did the same. Be weary on the Dez, it's thin at the top from the recent warm weather, hollow, water running underneath, punching through would not be a fun surprise, especially on lead. Needs to get colder again.....But the Cable Jay and Griz put up is doing better everyday....Thanks guys!

Here is your local translation: little snow + lots of wind= heavy snow loading on leeward aspects (where most of 10 Mile climbs lie) + human trigger= U die
UNF?!

Hiked into Jaws on Monday...was very thin. Ran into another climber who was checking out conditions when the sun was on it and he said stuff was coming down constantly.

Most likely not good. I checked it out a week ago and it was melting away. With these warming temperatures and clear weather with the sun beating on it all day, I imagine its best to wait.

Anyone checked out All Mixed Up this week?

Anyone been up to Hidden Falls yet?

The Hidden Falls pillar is TBI as of a week ago. It was hooked out but only a few feet thick. Perhaps suffering from gang TR sessions?
There is also a good WI3 flow to the left of the pillar that finishes at the bolted anchors for the M6 mixed line.

Thanks! I'll check it out Monday.

The south side of flattop is climbable, but there are spots of weak surface layer with sugar snow underneath, so it can be miserable climbing at times.

Great weather on Sat Dec 10th 2011. Here are a few pics from the Loch Vale Area. More on my page if you like.

The routes up at Glacier Gorge/Loch Vale are in. Climbed Crystal Meth today. It was beat out on the left side and pretty brittle on the right. Lot's of stuff in that area are in.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
