Evah climb in fahkin' Glosta, kid?!?!

Cape Ann granite is fahkin' sick, kid, especially in Glosta.

But the way the areas are posted on this site is fahkin' retahded!

Lets reorganize this tangle before it fahkin' spirals off the knob like fahkin' Hurricane Bob.

We've got 5 different Gloucester-based areas (some with only 1 route in them) spread throughout the MA state page. This didn't matter for like 3 years until all of a sudden people actually seem to give a shit about Cape Ann climbing info. So to prevent future confusion like is happening already with multiple route listings, lets change it now!

I vote to lump all of Cape Ann climbing under the existing area of Northshore/Cape Ann which was posted back in 2008 and has some decent sub-areas already.

Well, fahkin' speak up! If you could enunciate the thread title without having to think about it too much then you are enough of a Masshole to have an opinion (which, by default, all Massholes have)

I support the effort as there are at least two hundred additional boulder problems in Gloucester that are not in this data base. I was also wondering if you are a recent graduate of the "Hooked on Phonics" program?

Wicked confusing, I agree. I second (or third) the motion.

I would also really encourage locals to post all the scattered boulders they know about. There is a ton of small rock in the area. Taken on their own they don’t seem like that much, but collectively they would create something pretty substantial and worth putting together for other locals (or former locals like myself) to enjoy.

John - I dug out that guide a few weeks ago, but felt like the majority of the good info was published (sometimes it seems word for word) in Boston Rocks, so I didn't want to violate any copyright laws by posting. Was that rough draft given to you by one of the authors? I will look through it more closely when I have some time and see if there's anything worth posting that isn't plagiarism.

And the Mason Earle video is fahkin' sick! I can't believe that dude is from fahkin' Concord!!! Ever since I saw that footage I've been seeing his name pop up in magazines and such, pretty badass for a Masshole.

I think the biggest things holding people back from posting up the hundreds of random rocks in Gloucester/Rockport/Essex are the questionable access issues and the difficulty of writing out good directions to get to them.

For any locals that know the areas, what are your thoughts on Stillington's, Hesperus Ave., Town-Line (Nugent stretch), Dogtown, and Dorset Street to name a few obvious ones? Some have access issues (which may be as minimal as parking-access), others do not.

Also, I will email one of the admins and see if we can't get this little reorganization party underway.

YA- Herb gave that stuff. it would not suprise me if the Boston Rocks pukes did a verbatim lift of info, they have done it in the past.

From NH but am building a house down in Rockport. All I gotta say is I never thought that the rock would be as nice as it is. Threw a pad in the back of the truck today and spent last night trying to convince other NH'rs to check out cape ann.

Have a lot of free time this winter so anyone looking to get out and play, let me know. Local ice, and warm blocks can be had weather permitting.

Dorset St crag is now fully posted up. Almost all the routes, grades, beta.... whatever. Now, if only you folks would get out and climb there a bit to keep the rock cabbage from growing back!
