So my parents want to buy me a second pair of climbing shoes for my birthday. I already have a pair of Sportiva lace ups. (Oh I'm a chick by the way) I will mostly be using them for the gym, bouldering, and some sport climbing. Which shoes do you recommend?

Millet Everest, hands down. Millet is a French company, so it's a bit more expensive, but you really get what you pay for. If Sportiva rock shoes fit you, they should feel really comfy on your feet while still performing well on overhangs and super technical routes. Good luck with your search. I wish you the best in your climbing endeavors.

That shoe really is the sh#t! You might also consider LaSportiva Olympus Mons though, I found they fit my feet a little better. If you're in the Springs, I would get them at Gearonimo Sports.

This is a lie, climbing shoes should hurt. How else would you know you're alive?

I agree here 100%, and then when you do find that perfect fit, go home and order it up online somewhere and save a bundle compared to most store prices.

Wow, parents should think twice before letting their 13-year-old daughters ask for advice on mountainproject.

I think all rubber is pretty good out there. My favorite shoes are the Anasazis though.

Acopa shoes hands down are the best, if you can find a pair in your size. Plus, they should be cheaper since they stopped production.

The baffles on the T2 would allow for great smearing. Plus! Like those old Montrails, you could heat mold them and have a fit like no other!
But in all seriousness, you should go into a store with a lot of options and try on many pairs and find the shoe that fits you best. Consider womans shoes if you feel like you have a low volume foot (what does this even mean?!--width across the balls of your feet as well as the general space your mid-foot and heel area take up). Don't get locked into a womans shoe though if you don't...not all girls feet are the same! Consider shoe materials and construction--unlined leather shoes will have the tendency to stretch the most, lined leather somewhere in the middle and synthetic material the least. Stretch depends also on the amount of rubber around the toe box that compromises the rand. The more wrapped up a shoe is with rubber, the less it will stretch, generally. If you have sweaty feet, expect more stretching. Additionally, use the internet for getting consensus on shoe stretch and break-in, but give a store your business that spends time with you to get you set up in the best possible shoe. Good luck!
