Thanksgiving break eating places
|
Hello, will be in Red Rock for Thanksgiving (Wed-Sun) and was wondering what restaurants are good to eat at... anything from italian to sushi... just want to try some local favorites. Thanks! |

Best shitty country karaoke in a cool bar: Bonnie Springs. Thai: Lotus of Siam, Archi's. Best Dirtbag Happy Hr: John Cutters, in the Albertsons lot by RR. Sushi is everywhere, but my fav is Yummi on Lake Mead and Tenaya, next to Lasertag. Good pub food: 3AngryWives, BJ's, Crown and Anchor. Best New place on the West Side: Embers in Boca Park - awesome cocktail list and Firestone Walker IPA on tap. Most of the other stuff in Boca is decent too. Best (only?) real Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies: Doc's on Decatur and Alta - real Amoroso rolls. If you just want a good IPA and a pool game, Tenaya Crk Brewing is solid. Only real coffee shop on this side: Sambalatte, Boca Park, though the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is local and pretty good. Best Mexican: IF you want burrito shop, Amigos Tacos on Durango/Warm Springs. If you want sit-down and great margaritas, Leticias (somewhere up north - Dgo/95?). That should get ya started. |

DO NOT go to the Black Bear Diner. I forget who recommended that to us for last Thanksgiving, but it was terrible. |
|
The one road trip I took with Legs to Vegas we had Thanksgiving dinner at the convenience store in Grand Junction. Burrito score! OMGs! |
|
Most places close early-ish on T-giving, so plan your epics accordingly. If ya don't, the Grand Cafe at the RR Casino is still open at 1130. Just sayin'... |

Sounds like something you'd find in Leadville. Oh wait, that's the Golden Burro!! If anyone's feeling alone and displaced during the holidays, PM me and I can give appropriate restaurant recommendations. For more than that, you're on your own... |

Good betas! Thanks! |

Steer clear of Circus Circus buffet. To our misfortune, we indadvertantly ended up there one year. Thanksgiving dinner served in a peniteniary would likely prove to be superior. |
|
Try the Asian Buffets, they are usually not that busy on Thanksgiving. |
|
Appreciate all the suggestions! Thanks! |

It looks like Brigette already beat me to a response, but... There have been similar threads in the past on where to eat Thanksgiving in LV. (I guess I'm kinda surprised that it seems to come up every year) I think we choose Black Bear last year based on the number of positive comments it got in one of those threads, but the food was cold and kind of seemed like they just bought prepared stuff at Cosco. Later in the week we ate at Claim Jumper, and I wished we would have eaten our Thanksgiving meal there. |

Forgot about Firefly Tapas. Good one. Also, just stopped at Herbs and Rye the other night. Pretty kick-ass steaks, with a delightful cocktail menu of all sorts of obscure drinks. |
|
There are no good Thai joints in Vegas. Unless you think Pad Thai and Sate is hip. (That so 1980's) but there is plenty of that wannabe garbage to be had. |
|
Well perhaps things have changed in the last ten years or so. Twenty years ago there were only about three or four Thai restaurants in town. |

When your stomach returns to normal size after the big day, try out this mama n papa grub: I found (las) Campanitas on the north side of charleston behind an AMPM gasser almost out to the 215. There is a panadaria attached as well. No beer and minimal cheese but that was some good mexican food! I'll go back (court date). |

Gotta bump this up for more suggestions/opinions... |
