I was up at Lincoln this afternoon and the warmer temps are taking a toll on "climb-ability." Everything was *super* wet and lots of water running under, over, and all around all the ice. Conditions not nearly as good today as they appear in Ryan's photos. At the top of the bowling alley, I tried a line on the left and backed down about 1/2 way through it (was solo, but still...) I doubt many screws would have been worth much today and definitely not on any of the steep wet stuff and top-outs are likely to be spicy at best. Recommend waiting until the next cold spell. The upper pillar could be brought down fairly easily right now with injudicious swinging/kicking (or maybe even just looking). I didn't spend much time near it. Good news is things are shaping up very nicely if given some time and cold weather to grow/firm up. Could be the best year in a while, given these caveats. |

Ryan-Nelson wrote: Damn! Was it a slab avy? or just a small slide. Glad your alright!Small soft slab from what we could figure out but it took me and my partner (simul soloing) 400+ feet and netted us each a broken ankle. It was a long afternoon of self extraction. This was 2009 BTW. |

Smear of Fear was looking good from the road, hard to see how the lower half is doing but the upper looked great. Buddies climbed Alexanders a week ago... |
|
Someone on another site climbed Flying Dutchman 10/15. Also said Smear of Fear was in from the top only. Some ice low on Martha...FWIW. |
|
Dreamweaver is IN shape all the way from top to bottom but is mainly packed snow. |

climbed Direct North Face today in Silverton. TBI conditions. |

Smear of Fear has a ways to go as stated in previous posts. But there are other climbs coming into shape in the next couple of weeks. Flying Dutchman and Dreamweaver are looking pretty good right now. Martha looks bone dry. Here are a couple pictures from Saturday. |

sorry, Thin But In.....ice conditions. I like the brain injury one though! |
|
Dittos I like ice too. But you cant cook before the fire is started |
|
You also can't cook if you don't know or aren't willing to search and find the fire because the fire is around! |

Anyone been up Quicksilver, Kiener's or Notch Couloir? |
