What the hell do you do with them? I currently need to retire 3 ropes, and I fucking hate it. I need something creative to do with them. Yeah, I know the "rope rug" deal. But, I'm also not a hippy. Whats next, lasso? I've tried using one to tow a vehicle, dynamic rope SUCKS for that. Help....please.

Look nick, I appreciate your feel-good recommendation. But I'm trying to keep the focus on myself, how can retired ropes benefit ME. Let's brainstorm here and attempt to avoid our conditioned perpetual carbon footprint guilt processes.

There is no better way to get more attention than to hang yourself with the ropes you want to retire. Either that or use all three ropes to tie a sex swing for an extra extra large lady (Steel trusses would be advised).

Dang I was going to suggest a sex swing...perhaps you could create a multi-person sex swing so nothings holding you back from those swingin' orgies!

Bridge jump with them. tie a bunch of knots in them and stuff them up your ass, tie one end off to the bridge.

perhaps you can weave them into a hammock or other kind of hanging chair. i dunno about the sex swing, but whatever floats your boat. could even make a bachar ladder or some other training device or use it for rigging.

donate them to route developers for hand lines ... help the climbing community ... a rope deserves to spend its final days helping people climb ...

You must have not read his 2nd post. He wants to do something with the rope that will benefit him. He wants to be selfish and probably donating the rope to the climbing community will serve him no purpose.

Cut it into sections and make dog leashes with retired biners. Sell them for outragous prices to hippies in Boulder with dogs named "Karma" or "Yoghurt" to give them some Boulder street cred.

The site "www.justropes.com" has a rope recycle program where they pay you to ship the ropes to them.

I used my 15 + year old rope as a safety line for trimming a tree in my yard recently - I'd probably still use it for top roping. Eventually I'll send it up the river to be recycled.

Weave door mats out of them. You'll enjoy them for years. (fair conversation starters?) Make some for your climbing friends for the holidays. (by my estimate, you've got enough for 5 mats.) Give sections to your friends for tow ropes?
