The website Couchsurfing.org is a great way to travel for free and meet new people (so I am told).

What about adding a forum section for people traveling, and looking for a place to crash for a few days and climb? Or offering a bed for traveling climbers to crash for a few.

Boulder is a tough place to find camping anywhere near, but a great place to pass through and climb at. I'd like to offer a bed to those traveling though!

Maybe having a similar setup as the Partners section, with it broken down to different areas, and people looking to crash somewhere can hook up with people offering beds/couches/floorspace/a backyard to pitch a tent in!

I wish more climbers would sign up on couchsurfing. It DOES work, and it's free. The trick is that you send a couch request to about 4 or 5 people in the area you want to stay, then you should get a positive response. Many people sign up, then don't host or respond to requests, so you have to really throw it out there depending on where you're at.

Way better than a hotel, because you get to meet a local who knows the area and knows what is worth seeing and what is shit. I've had 5 or 6 years of good times with hundreds of couchsurfers. 99% super cool, 1% I wouldn't invite back. Most bring beer or wine, or cook, whatever. Also, if you want to camp, it is still good to try CSing, because many local surfers will meet you for coffee or a beer, and you can get the local beta on cool camp sites.

Another cool idea, but I was thinking more along the lines of free :D

Sweet profile Eric, I guess CS is the way to go so far!

Great idea, Tim! I'm in Boulder area and find it frustrating to find cheap/free lodging. When I lived in the Gunks, I had let visiting climbers crash on my couch/floor. If not a couch, it would be nice to at least find people offering showers.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
