So I'm planing a trip to The Obed and Have a small travel trailer I would like park and camp near to the climbing.I have heard of the Lily pad the place that Scruggs run but that's it. Are there any other places to camp that would be trailer friendly?

Thanks for any and all Info,
Rob.

Bit of a drive, but there is Frozen Head Park in Wartburg TN.

I have seen people camp in the upper parking lot (the parking for the boulderfield and overlook) and never heard of any trouble. I know you can camp up there following a few guidelines like camping a certain distance from trail, etc. I don't know if you're talking about sleeping in your car/ trailer or in a tent but i'd say you should be fine

Jay thanks I'll look at frozen head, was hoping to find something close.

Reece, we will be staying in out 25' travel trailer, do you know if they allow travel trailers at the lily pad (Scruggs place???)or how to contact the Scruggs directly?

Thanks again!

Not sure about the lily pad. The only thing it says about camping in the parking area is do not camp in the south clear parking area so you could give that upper lot a shot. Otherwise I don't know of anything else

Bring it. Marte and I just bought the property all the way to the road. I am sure we can find a place for a 25' camper. Thanks.

Revitalizing an old thread here. .. Lilly pad is currently closed.  Is there any free CAR camping in/near the Obed?  I understand primitive tent camping is allowed for free.

There's a campground across the river from the Lillypad, stayed there 2weeks ago. Running water, 3 min from climbing.

There is a new campground that’s popped up that is pretty neat called freedom hills. It’s about ten minutes from the Lilly pad but when I was there for the summer it was free, came with complimentary breakfast, showers, water, etc. And had loads of bouldering on the property. They’re still developing a lot of the lines there but it’s pretty sweet. Not sure if it’s still free but I honestly felt bad not paying.

It’s called freedom hills. They’re active on Facebook and Instagram if you search their name. It’s just dispersed camping in a field, but free breakfast and wifi is hard to beat

There is also the Rock Creek campground, it's $10/night but it's pretty solid. You can sleep in a car or pitch a tent, there are trash cans and lit toilets and a pretty nice river. It was plenty quiet when I stayed there last month, only one other group staying there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
