Broke my jaw riding my bicycle... now it's wired shut for the next three weeks. Never imagined how psychological it could be to have your mouth shut at all times. Any beta?

So how do you eat?

Smooth liquids through any gaps in my closed teeth which happen to be small since I had braces as a kid. Anyone been through this before. I wake up at night with some serious claustrophobia.

Oh yeah, I have to keep wire cutters on me at all times in case I throw up I can cut my wires so I don't choke to death.

I had my jaw wired for 5 weeks and had a great time climbing throughout. I lost about 15 pounds and went sport climbing and learned several good lessons as a result. One is that since you can't pull up rope into your teeth to clip above you, you have to clip at your waist which saves tons of energy. The second was that there was no yelling 'Take!!' or 'Falling!! like a little chickenshit (like I usually do if I have the chance), just climbing and whipping in silence and that was really enjoyable. Other than that, practice your buddha nature, observe how much of our words are wasted and fruitless, and plan a kickass meal once you're liberated from those infernal wires.

Bud,
That's what you get for being an ice climber.

Sincerely,
Sean

P.S.
You should have left the training wheels on
