I'm just a rebel, eager to be breaking new ground and new levels of difficulty.

I guess you have to do whatcha gotta do to get a first ascent nowadays...

I think it should go. I'd much prefer the route database be all business.

I don't see the big deal? Isn't Rumney a low ball bouldering area? What I'd heard, anyway...

My garbage disposal is getting a funny odor. anyone know a natural home remedy for that?

Jean Scott · · Unknown Hometown · Joined Apr 2008 · Points: 50

Yes, dude, put a lemon down the disposal and run it with water for a full minute.

Now that it's off page one can I comment? Being as I'm not a "real" climber I try to wait to chime in.

I have often thought of contending that theatre and studio techies running up and down ladders and hanging off the ceiling with heavy equipment in one hand and wrenches in their teeth should be classified with, if not as, climbers.

I just don't see how you negate an activity that's having to do with actual outdoor rock as being climbing no matter how low it goes.

Unless, at a certain point, you have to call it caving, lol.

While I smiled upon first reading it, I don't think this belongs in the route database.

Newsflash to the horde of tight-assed fools posting in this thread: database space is essentially unlimited. Cluttering would only be an issue if the stuff was mixed up with the routes or boulders - which it isn't. Get of your 40' sport climbing high horse...

Mike's stuff is not particularly amusing but it beats any attempt at humor one can hope to encounter on here.

PS: Jake? Are you for real?

Here is my take on this...

Lowball bouldering is a boulder problem that is close to the ground maybe a low cave, or a traverse that never rises more than a couple feet off the ground.

Here is a few Rumney lowballs:

Umbrella Traverse V2

Katmai Disaster V2-3

Underdog V4

Grace is Gone V0+

These routes listed above are all lowballs, the routes you have listed at Arlyn Farms and not lowballs or boulder problems. When I first saw the post I laughed and thought it was funny, but I would prefer if it is removed from the database. I even had a good laugh because I had done the same thing a fooled around on these rocks about four years ago when I was working at the Rock Barn, but I never though they should be listed as routes or given names, it was just something funny to do when we had nobody at the Barn.

Cheers.

But if you remove the area does that mean that Mike will lose his points?!

If you stuck a lump of coal in Jake's ass, the next day it would be a diamond. This is in fact how he earns part of his income.

I like lowball bouldering, here is an epic FA I did in Greenland

I didn't add it to the database though because what happens in Greenland stays in Greenland.

This would be funny if you knew how to punctuate, or at least capitalize. Luckily I know how to do neither so the hypocrisy of my comment should probably be taken with a grain of salt .

I'm psyched to see some people with a sense of humor here. I am sure both Jake and I would only annoy each other anyways.

I personally don't like finding bouldering mixed up with full length routes, anywhere on MP. While checking new states for an upcoming road trip, I find maybe 30 'climbing' areas listed, only to click the links and find it's another 12 ft high single boulder behind a gas station. That is NOT a 'climbing area'. I feel all states/regions need to be further divided into places with routes and only boulders, so to not waste time looking at lowball pics of small rocks page after page while searching for some real 1-2 pitch climbs. Bouldering has had much interest, and needs a separate locater to help both traddies and boulderers find what they are looking for at MP.

This has nothing to do with having a sense of humor. Like someone already said: you could have just posted a photo under the Rumney Bouldering section and hoped for the comments, praise and attention you seem to be looking for...
