Howdy folks,

Heading to the Tetons on the 29th for a week or so. Was hoping to do the Catherdral traverse, we will see what the weather says. Talked to the Rangers today and they said there is quite a bit of snow up there. Anyone have any recommendations for other routes that may be in season for the first week of August. Should I bring my skis :)?

thanks,
mike

If you are looking for rock routes:

Any of the Mt. Moran South Buttress routes - the direct is long, especially if you go all the way to the summit.

Serendipity Arete on Owen, or routes on the west face

Lots of great climbs in Death Canyon - Snaz, Aerial Boundaries, Cardiac Arete, Caveat Emptor, etc.

Also, there's always the Winds - Cirque of the Towers is cool if you've never been there.

There are plenty of lower elevation rock climbs, I can argue are actually better technical climbs than the higher peaks. Along with Death, Cascade Canyon & Disappointment Peak offer fun outings.

Gotta hit up Irene's Arete and the Open Book, both in Garnet Canyon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
