I have a friend who was born with half a foot and wants to start climbing. She has come out and done a few top rope routes but struggles because of it. Any suggestions as far as what to do about shoes or what might help her?

My only thought was to buy shoes and see if a cobbler could customize them. It hurts her to climb without shoes an she gets no stability climbing with her normal shoe/prosthetic set up.

+1 for Evolv. Good chance to get something there for a decent price. I like the knee pad idea too; should use that as my excuse for poor climbing on my bad ankle.

Have her get in touch with Paradox Sports too--they are always
doing things for those that want to climb though they may
have artificial limbs and the like.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I will have her look into those and see what works best for her.

He was able to toprope anything he wanted, and lead some easy stuff. Might be a comfortable alternative to trying to outfit her foot. My friend was able to toprope 5.11 successfully with a one foot and one knee (so there are no limits outside the mind). Glad you guys are out climbing!
That guy is my hero. He was running laps on Suppers Ready with one leg.
